Settings and Activity
Settings are stored in your browser for the Zendesk account you are signed in to. Export them as a file to share with a colleague or another browser.
General
App language
Same as your Zendesk profile by default. English, Spanish, German, French and Portuguese (Brazil) are available.
Thresholds
Tune what counts as stale or too short for your help center. Findings update immediately, no rescan needed.
| Setting | Default | Rule it feeds |
|---|---|---|
| Stale after (months without edits) | 12 | Article not updated for a long time; Promoted article is stale |
| Old draft after (days) | 90 | Old draft never published |
| Very short article (words) | 40 | Very short article |
| Long article needs headings (words) | 500 | Long article without headings |
| Title too long (characters) | 90 | Title is very long |
| Near-duplicate title similarity | 0.8 | Two articles have nearly the same title |
Domains
- Retired help center domains: one host per line. Links to these hosts are flagged by the "Link to an old help center address" rule and can be updated in one go.
- Never check these hosts: one per line,
*.example.comfor subdomains. Good for sites that block automated requests; their links are then neither checked nor reported as unverified. - External link timeout and parallel external checks for the link checker.
Safety
Do not ask about content blocks again: only turn this on if your help center does not use content blocks (Guide Enterprise). The acknowledgement protects articles built with content blocks from being flattened by an API write.
Rules
Switch off rules that do not apply to your help center. Disabled rules do not run and are not counted in the score. Hidden findings are listed here too, with a way to show them again.
Plan
Shows the plan read from your Zendesk Marketplace subscription and its limits. To change plans, open Admin Center, Apps and integrations, Zendesk Support apps, then Help Center Doctor and Change plan. If the plan name is not recognised, the app applies Free limits and says so; contact support if that is wrong.
Data and privacy
Where your data is: the Zendesk account and user the app is running as, the cached scan (how many articles, when), cached link checks, browser storage used and the brands in the account.
- Settings backup: export thresholds, domains, disabled rules and hidden findings as a file; import it elsewhere.
- Clear local data: removes the cached scan, link results, templates, settings and activity log from this browser. Your Zendesk articles are not affected.
Activity
The Activity screen is the app's log and its undo button.
- Log: every scan, link check, change set, export and created draft, with counts and errors. It stays in your browser.
- Undo history (this session): the last 20 change sets. Undo restores the previous content and settings of the affected articles, one write per article, after a confirmation that lists what will be reverted.
- Restore from snapshot file: pick a snapshot the app downloaded earlier and write its content back. Works after the session has ended, on another computer, or weeks later.
- API usage: requests completed, retried and failed, and how many ran in the last minute.
