Help Center Link Checker
A free, single-purpose app for Zendesk Support that finds broken links, dead anchors and missing images across every article and every language of your help center. It runs in your browser, uses your own permissions and never writes anything.
What it checks
- Internal links to articles, sections and categories that no longer exist, are archived, are drafts or are restricted to a user segment.
- Anchors (
#section) that point at headings that are not there. - Old domains and plain HTTP: links to a previous help center address and
http://links or images that browsers block as mixed content. - External links and images, checked through Zendesk's request proxy, up to 200 URLs per scan, with a clear difference between broken, unverified (login walls, bot protection, timeouts) and fine.
- Link map: which articles link to a given article, so you know what breaks before you archive it.
What it does not do
It never changes your help center. When you want to replace or remove links in bulk, add missing alt text, find and replace across articles, run bulk actions or print documents, Help Center Doctor does all of that from the same scan, with a preview, a snapshot and undo. Both apps are built from the same engine by the same developer.
Privacy
The app has no server. Articles are read with the signed-in agent's session through the Zendesk API; the scan cache and link-check results live in the browser's local storage on the admin's computer and can be cleared from Settings. Nothing is sent to the developer or to any third party, and there are no analytics, cookies or AI services. The same privacy policy and terms as Help Center Doctor apply.
Install
- Open the listing on the Zendesk Marketplace (link added once the listing is approved) and click Install. You need to be a Zendesk admin.
- Choose the roles or groups that may use the app, then click Install.
- In Zendesk Support, open Link Checker from the left navigation bar and click Scan now.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free? Yes. There is no plan, no trial and no limit on articles or languages. The only cap is 200 external URLs per scan, which keeps the app well inside Zendesk's rate limits.
Does it slow down my agents? No. A scan uses about one request per 100 articles and runs inside the admin's browser only while the app is open.
Can I upgrade later? Install Help Center Doctor from the Marketplace; your scan settings stay in the browser and the first scan takes a minute or two.
